DRSplus Fundus Camera

The iCare DRSplus is built for practices that want automated fundus imaging without a heavy operator burden. A technician runs the device, but the DRSplus handles alignment, focus, exposure, capture and montage itself, and iCare states the system requires minimal staff training, the point being that image quality depends less on which technician is at the instrument. It shares the EIDON's TrueColor confocal engine but is not a widefield platform, which makes it a good fit for smaller clinics, satellite locations and comprehensive practices building imaging capability at an accessible price point and footprint.

TrueColorConfocalNon-Mydriatic

What it does

  • TrueColor confocal technology with white LED illumination (440–650 nm)
  • 10 megapixel images at 77 pixels per degree
  • 45° × 40° single capture; optional mosaic builds panoramic views up to 80°
  • Non-mydriatic: minimum 2.5 mm pupil, 25 mm working distance
  • Five automated functions: auto-alignment, auto-focus, auto-exposure, auto-capture and auto-montage
  • TrueColor and external eye imaging, with red-free, blue and red digital filters; stereo viewing optional
  • iCare states the system requires minimal staff training
  • Optional Remote Viewer serves up to five review stations on the same LAN

Is it right for your practice?

Best fit

Comprehensive optometry, ophthalmology, smaller clinics, satellite locations, and practices that want dependable retinal imaging without a heavy operator burden.

Why consider it

The DRSplus shares the EIDON's TrueColor confocal engine, so color holds up through cataract and small pupils. Five automated functions (alignment, focus, exposure, capture and montage) keep results consistent across operators, and iCare states the system requires minimal staff training. Non-mydriatic through a 2.5 mm pupil at 45° × 40°, with an optional mosaic to 80°.

What to compare

It is not a widefield platform. If your case mix wants peripheral retina, the EIDON UWF is the instrument and the DRSplus will not stretch to it. Stereo, mosaic, DICOM, Web API and the Remote Viewer are all optional on iCare's own specification, so compare configured prices rather than base prices.
