TRS-3100 Digital Refractor

The digital refractor for a compact lane

The TRS-3100 gives you digital refraction in a smaller, lighter package than the 6100. It connects wirelessly to your Marco autorefractor, auto lensmeter and EMR, and its compact refractor head covers less of the patient's face, which patients notice. A 40-degree visual field keeps their view of the room natural, and the refinements go down to one degree of axis.

Digital RefractionWireless

What it does

  • 5.7-inch color LCD touchscreen controller
  • Compact, ergonomic refractor head that covers less of the patient's face
  • 40-degree wide visual field for a more natural view
  • Axis refinement in 1 to 5 degree steps; prism in 0.1 to 1.00 steps
  • Independent right and left PD adjustment
  • Automatic power convergence and power PD adjustment during near point testing
  • Built-in Intelligent Card reader for data transfer
  • Antifogging protective glasses and detachable forehead rest and face shields

Is it right for your practice?

Best fit

Practices that want automated refraction without rebuilding the lane around it, and rooms where the 6100's footprint is more than there is space for.

Why consider it

It does the core job of a digital refractor at a smaller scale: fast, repeatable, one-handed, connected to pre-test and EMR, run from a 5.7-inch touchscreen. The compact head covers less of the patient's face and the 40-degree visual field keeps the room visible around the instrument, so patients who find a phoropter claustrophobic tend to do better with this one. Axis refines in one-degree steps and the right and left PD adjust independently.

What to compare

Against the TRS-6100, you are giving up the larger control surface and the tilting screen for near testing, and the 3100 is not the refractor inside the EPIC workstation. If you expect to build a full pre-test and refraction workstation within a few years, buying the 6100 now keeps that path open. Against staying manual, compare it with the RT-700: if you prefer manual refraction and are not looking to be talked out of it, automation is not an upgrade you will enjoy.
